Grupa Kęty has received a new EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for its aluminum profiles, extruded from aluminum billets from its own foundry.
This declaration is based on the EN 15804 standard and verified according to ISO 14025 by an external auditor. A life-cycle analysis of the products of the site confirms its cradle-to-gate CO2-equivalent (CO2e) emissions for casting and extrusion operations.
The carbon footprint of the profiles is only 3.3 kg CO2e / kg compared to 9.0 kg CO2e / kg (European Aluminum Association average).
The main factor of the low environmental impact is the recycled material content (above 65%) in the remelting charge of the aluminium billets manufactured in Kęty.
GK recycles post-consumer scrap purchased on the market as well as aluminium waste manufactured by all the Capital Group subsidiaries.
This allows us to offer our customers aluminum profiles with a carbon footprint and emission levels (CO2 equivalents) well below the European average!
