European Mobility Week

SDG:

European Mobility Week – Campaign initiated by the European Commission in 2002, held every year between 16 and 22 of September. The goal of the campaign is to encourage city residents to change the health-deteriorating habits and choose alternative, environmentally friendly ways of moving from one place to another: walking, cycling, using public transport or car-pooling.
This year’s slogan is ‘Save Energy’.
Many cities prepare various attractions: competitions with prizes, happenings, outdoor games, trips, picnics, workshops or festivals. People who travel by public transport may get cheaper tickets or avail of new bus or tram lines. For obvious reasons, the action is best promoted in big cities, where street traffic is most congested.
The sustainable transport campaign is translated into measurable advantages as regards the habits of residents and transport organisation. One the one hand, people use a bike or a bus and, on the other hand, road infrastructure extension may be observed in many cities (just to mention bicycle tracks), and speed limitation is introduced. Also city bike hire becomes more popular, which is a cheap and fast way of getting to your destination.

Grupa Kęty Capital Group’s activity: the logistics of the Extruded Products Segment has moved to a new Fright Exchange.
In March this year, a new CargoON Freight Exchange was launched, where our cargo routes to customers are auctioned. CargoON is one of the largest freight exchanges operating on the European market, associating 25,000 forwarders, thanks to which the number of forwarders we cooperate with increased from less than a hundred to over three hundreds and is still growing. Each day, the forwarders compete in cargo auctions, offering highly competitive prices for transport. This has translated into a reduction of the total costs of transport by 5% to even 18% depending on the region in the last few months. The platform is also a very flexible working tool for our Forwarding Department, and the communication interface of the platform enables fast contact with forwarders and eliminates the extended e-mail or telephone communication.
Combining of the exchange functions with the TMS-Falcon transport management system brings not only major savings but also optimal monitoring and management of the distribution process. We also focus on environmental protection by way of reducing the number of kilometres driven by the transport fleet within a year as regards the cubic metres of cargo transported.
