The Eighth Foster Care Tree! Bielsko-Biała, Strzygowski Park. The Share Your Home Project. Grupa Kęty Dzieciom Podbeskidzia Foundation.

As part of the ‘Share Your Home’ Project, run by the Grupa Kęty Dzieciom Podbeskidzia Foundation, which promotes the idea of foster care, symbolic birdhouses have been hung in select locations across Bielsko-Biała. This is because the symbol of the campaign is a long-tailed tit, considered a very family-oriented and protective species that cares not only for its own offspring but also for abandoned chicks.

These are not just ordinary birdhouses – they are little reminders that inspire city residents to reflect on how much good we can do for children in need of a home and warmth. Each birdhouse is a symbol that each of us can contribute something valuable to the lives of others, even if – at first glance – it is a small gesture. The project shows that beauty lies in small gestures, and that urban space can become a place for social education and raising awareness. Thanks to the Grupa Kęty Dzieciom Podbeskidzia Foundation and partners from the Municipal Social Welfare Centre (MOPS) in Bielsko-Biała, the idea of foster care is reaching residents in a creative and friendly way. Each birdhouse is an invitation to pause for a moment, reflect, and – who knows – perhaps take the first step toward becoming a foster family. Because sometimes a single gesture can change the whole life.

On Monday, together with foster families, symbolic unveiling of another tree took place in Strzygowski Park.

Other birdhouses can now be found in several unique locations:

  1. ‘Szósty Zmysł’ Park on Zielona Street – located amidst beautiful greenery, where every walk offers a perfect opportunity for reflection and seeking inspiration.
  2. Opatrzności Bożej Square (right next to the MOPS Foster Care Department office) – located in the very heart of the city, in a place that is symbolically associated with social support and assistance.
  3. Straceńskie Boulevards on Górska Street – an ideal recreational spot where walkers can peacefully observe the birdhouses and reflect on the idea of foster care.
  4. The park by the City Hall (Municipal Office) – this is where students from nearby schools and residents looking to spend time in one of the most beautiful spots in Bielsko-Biała like to gather.
  5. Św. Mikołaja Square – located right next to the Cathedral and benches where passersby can find a moment of respite after exploring the city.
  6. The Klimczokówka Café run by the Nadzieja Foundation at 100 Zapora Street – a  unique place where the cozy atmosphere encourages conversation, and guests can try exceptional ‘Podziel Się’ sweet rolls.
  7. The grounds of the Rekord Bielsko-Biała sports club at 13 Sportowa Street – a space buzzing with athletic energy that brings the local community together around shared values and active leisure.
