Let’s meet offline. Young people, relationships and emotional first aid

This year, the fourth edition of the ‘TooWhat’ project is entitled ‘Let’s meet offline’. Its main message is to encourage young people to use new technologies responsibly, practise proper digital hygiene and nurture peer-relationships.

Last Tuesday, 13 October 2026, at the Bielsko-Biała Cultural Centre the participants of the event could attend a lecture by Dr Halszka Witkowska, Chair of the ‘Life is Worth the Talk’ Foundation, devoted to ‘Emotional First Aid’.

The expert discussed issues relating to recognising the signs of a mental health crisis and ways of providing support to people experiencing emotional difficulties. Particular attention was paid to the importance of conversation, empathy and responding appropriately to concerning behaviour.

There was also no shortage of artistic expression. The following performers showed their skills at the stage of the Bielsko-Biała Cultural Centre: Bartłomiej Szyma with a solo saxophone performance, RootArt dance troupe, and Don’t Miss The Sunset music band. These energetic performances demonstrated just how many opportunities the world beyond the mobile phone screen offers for self-expression, pursuing passions and building relationships.

On the same day, the Książnica Beskidzka library hosted the second open meeting with Dr Halszka Witkowska, aimed at parents, teachers and youth workers.

The talks on emotional first aid provided an opportunity to deepen the understanding of mental health crises among teenagers, recognise warning signs and build a safe and supportive relationship with young people.

The project has been carried out by Grupa Kęty in cooperation with the City of Bielsko-Biała and the ‘Biegniemy z Mają’ [Run With Maja] Foundation.
