‘Green Group’ – another awarded suggestion!

SDG:

The awarded suggestion is the best example that the ‘Green Group’ programme introduced at the Group not only has a positive impact on the environment but also brings financial benefits. The project consists in connecting to the in-house closed-circuit water system of the SECO/ALMEX casting line with two induction melting furnaces.

The system had its separate cooling system for the casting mould, which required large quantities of water and electricity for proper operation, as well as chemicals for water conditioning and micro-organisms elimination.

The system required additionally a lot of maintenance for keeping it in order. A solution came with making use of the closely located in-house closed-circuit cooling water system. A new pipeline was laid along the northern wall of the Casting Hall and the circuit water was pumped into the cooling system of the SECO/ALMEX casting line mould.

This water line eliminated the previously necessary operation of electric engines, maintenance of the previous system and chemicals dosing.

Savings on account of the project are estimated at nearly PLN 100,000 a year.

Energy consumption reduction will reach 78 MWh/year., whereas the GHG emissions reduction on account of the project will exceed 52 tons CO2e/year.

The project perfectly fits the climate policy of the Group and supports the circular economy.

Project authors are the employees of the Extruded Products Segment employees – Adrian Słodowski and Piotr Kordas. Thank you and congratulations!
