World Green Building Week is an annual campaign aimed at raising awareness about the impact of green construction on combating climate change. Aluprof with a special educational campaign “7 buildings for 7 days of the week” joined this year’s campaign, which is celebrated between September 23-29.
As part of the World Green Building Week, companies and organizations from around the world carry out activities under the sign #BuildingLife, thanks to which recipients learn how they can create a green, healthy and climate-resistant environment that serves both people and nature. The goal of this year’s campaign is to raise awareness of carbon dioxide emissions at all stages of the building’s life cycle, and thus to encourage the way of thinking and actions to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from buildings.
– Buildings and construction account for 39% of global energy related carbon dioxide emissions. 28% of these emissions come from the operational phase, i.e. their heating, power and cooling, while 11% is attributed to carbon emissions released during the building and production process. Until now, the construction industry has focused on operational emissions and the way buildings actually operate. However, in order to fully decarbonise by 2050 and stop global warming at 1.5 ° C, the construction sector must also deal with emissions from the entire life cycle of the building – reads on the organizer’s website, World Green Building Council.
Green Construction from the perspective of Aluprof
In order to emphasize the role that ecological buildings play for sustainable development, Aluprof has prepared a special information campaign: 7 buildings for 7 days of the week! The campaign aims to expand knowledge of green buildings and multi-criteria ecological building assessment systems, including Breeam, Leed, HQE, Well.
– Aluprof’s management philosophy and products are part of the sustainable development trend. In addition to regular, educational CSR activities, as part of environmental policy we have implemented an integrated environmental management system ISO 140001 or a reporting method taking into account environmental aspects according to the global standard – GRI (Global Reporting Initiative). What’s more, our window and door and facade systems have independently confirmed, internationally recognized declarations. These types of products are used in prestigious projects around the world. A great example of green buildings with Aluprof systems are, among others Mennica Legacy Tower in Warsaw, the Green2Day building in Wroclaw or 61 Ninth Avenue in New York – says Aleksandra Baksik, Brand & Sustainable Development Manager Aluprof.
The partner of the Aluprof campaign is PLGBC – a member of the international organization GBC.
