As part of the ‘Share Your Home’ Project, run by the Grupa Kęty Dzieciom Podbeskidzia Foundation, which promotes the idea of foster care, symbolic birdhouses have been hung in select locations across Bielsko-Biała. This is because the symbol of the campaign is a long-tailed tit, considered a very family-oriented and protective species that cares not only for its own offspring but also for abandoned chicks.
These are not just ordinary birdhouses – they are little reminders that inspire city residents to reflect on how much good we can do for children in need of a home and warmth. Each birdhouse is a symbol that each of us can contribute something valuable to the lives of others, even if – at first glance – it is a small gesture. The project shows that beauty lies in small gestures, and that urban space can become a place for social education and raising awareness. Thanks to the Grupa Kęty Dzieciom Podbeskidzia Foundation and partners from the Municipal Social Welfare Centre (MOPS) in Bielsko-Biała, the idea of foster care is reaching residents in a creative and friendly way. Each birdhouse is an invitation to pause for a moment, reflect, and – who knows – perhaps take the first step toward becoming a foster family. Because sometimes a single gesture can change the whole life.
On Monday, together with foster families, symbolic unveiling of another tree took place in Strzygowski Park.
Other birdhouses can now be found in several unique locations:
