By way of the ‘Green Group’ programme we have invited our employees to share activities for the ESG Strategy performance, particularly focused on preventing climate change.
In the first half of 2022, nine suggestions were reported at the EPS, out of which six were implemented. The award for the first-half-of-the-year suggestion went to the EPS employees for a suggestion regarding improvement of degreasing in tank No. 5.
In order to improve the efficiency of degreasing in tank No. 5 a filter with water pump has been installed, in order to eliminate metal chips and foreign bodies originating in the process of cutting, which went directly to the degreasing solution tank. Tank No. 5 was provided with solution pH and conductivity sensors, as well as a LED display to read the current values of the solution. Direct pH and conductivity reading enables earlier reacting to improve the solution with chemicals.
Before filtration as well as pH and conductivity control introduction in tank No. 55, the process parameters were as follows:
1. The solution lasted for 6 weeks.
2. The quantity of degreased materials was 557 tons on the average in the lifetime of the solution.
After the change, the degreasing process parameters in tank No. 5 are as follows:
1. The solution lasts for 12-14 weeks.
2. The quantity of degreased materials is 1,118 tons (and is going to improve as we are not planning to replace the degreasing solution at the moment).
Longer solution lifetime also results in saving on the neutralisation of the consumed chemicals (before the change the chemicals neutralisation was carried out 8 times in a year, and after the new solutions have been applied, the neutralisation will be held 4 times a year).
