22 March – World Water Day

SDG:

World Water Day – the day is celebrated every year on 22 March. It originated during the (UNCED) Earth Summit Conference held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992. The basis for proclaiming the day was the fact that over a billion people in the world suffer of the shortage of water. The idea behind the World Water Day celebration is to make countries aware of the impact of proper water management on their economic and social standing.

Grupa Kapitałowa Grupa Kęty S.A. is perfectly aware that water is absolutely essential for each aspect of life, and maintaining its resources is of key importance. It is the challenge of the 21st century – the most important one, particularly in the era of climate changes resulting in shrinking water resources.

Grupa Kęty S.A. has already implemented and is going to implement a series of actions related to water management. In 2006 the Capital Group replaced its water piping systems with new ones. In 2007 it implemented a project of water intake for production purposes from soil rehabilitation. The actions listed above are only some of those carried out by Grupa Kęty S.A. In that way the plant saves over 3 million m3 of water!

At the beginning of 2020, the Capital Group took a decision on using good quality water from own well intakes for the drinking purposes of all employees. As a consequence, the company resigned from purchasing water in plastic bottles. At the plant, there are installed distributors with water filters. Water may be cooled or heated in them, as well as saturated with gas. Moreover, the use of water from own resources has limited the costs of disposal and utilisation of plastic packaging. More about the activities of the Group may be read here.

Many people around the world lack drinking water. The World Water Day is a good moment to remember that water needs to be saved.
